Which point the MTP panel, not ten minutes later, turned into "mixed messaging from the White House."This is an important point for proponents of "natural immunity" like Rand Paul to process👇 https://t.co/IbzKdt13fd

Because pundits and journalists all stand apart from the world and merely comment on it. They don't live in it, affect it, or participate in it in any way. Because "both-siderism" means you must note the current Administration has changed its advice on masks as the situation has changed, but you can't note that last and glaringly obvious part, because "objectivity."
It reminds me of Kierkegaard's observation on the man who looked at his own life objectively until he woke up one day and found he no longer existed. The fact is you can't stand apart from yourself, or your friends, or your milieu (the same panel said the story of Andrew Cuomo's sexual harrasment charges is a national story. Yeah, sure, from the perspective of "The New Yorker" it is. Beyond the BosWash, the rest of us have other worries like covid, school, and further west, forest fires. But sure, the rude, crude, and socially unacceptable governor of New York is far more important than that. He's a Cuomo, after all!) and claim a privileged position from which you comment on all without affecting anything.
So the pundit class pontificates and pooh-bahs and insists it is neither in nor of the world it comments on. Which, of course, also affects the world it comments on (what is Trump but a political commentator anymore? The only difference is he accepts responsibility for affecting behavior (well, as it suits him).), but they won't admit responsibility: they are too aloof for that. They are barely even responsible for their predictions, must less their statements on what everyone else is doing wrong. Even the fourth wave of the pandemic is now a political issue: how will this affect Biden's political power going forward? Will this mean the end of his Administration? How many ways can we say he changed his message, while ignoring that the situation has changed for the worse, and that change was beyond his control, is even the result of politics gone mad?
Not one of them mentioned what Fauci had to say about conditions on the ground. Such petty concerns are for minions. These are the 'grand thinkers.'
Covid is going to wipe out the country and the last word uttered will be a pundit blaming the Biden Administration for it, because "mixed messages."
Retweet this to infinity and beyond. https://t.co/ssa68Hc99Q
