"We Got Us A Convoy Two Flat Tires"

(Too much news today being made far too fast!)

I was listening to MSNBC in the gym this morning.  They told me there was a "convoy" out of PA headed to D.C., and because of it the Pentagon had requested 700 National Guardsmen to protect the Capitol from trucks and demonstrations.  They also told me about the truck delaying the convoy because it had two flat tires.

They didn't tell me it was the only truck in the convoy.

Modeled after recent trucker protests in Canada, separate truck convoys have been planned through online forums with names like the People's Convoy and the American Truckers Freedom Fund — all with different starting points, departure dates and routes. Some are scheduled to arrive in time for President Joe Biden's State of the Union address on March 1, though others may arrive afterward.
I think we've found the problem.  There is a gap between on-line "life" and real life.  The two are not always congruent. In some cases, they aren't even overlapping circles on a Venn diagram.

MSNBC did mention another convoy, out of California.  Maybe it was this one.  The "People's Convoy" wants to make it to D.C. by March 5.  The SOTU is on March 1.  The "People's Convoy" also says they won't be "entering D.C. proper."  They planned to have 1000 trucks, but I can't find any news confirming they reached that number.  In fact, on day two of their planned convoy, I can't find any current news about them at all.

Hmmmmm......πŸ€”

According to the Census Bureau, 3.5 million people work as truck drivers in America.  Suddenly 1000 truckers with nothing better to do (seems unlikely, given the supply/demand problems in the country right now) doesn't seem like all that many, even if they do show up.

UPDATE: The PA Convoy has decided one 18-wheeler is enough:
No word yet on where the 1000 rigs from California are. But I'm thinking just gettin' 'em all through a truck stop for food and gas will be a logistical nightmare.
