You can tell people who know nothing about Texas politics or governance because they say the Lite Gov. has the "real power" in Texas government. This is, though they don't know it, a testimony to the late Bob Bullock. This is a REALLY REALLY big deal. #txlege https://t.co/8DyU4bWTv9

Texas has had a lot of governors, and as many (or more) Lite Govs. Bob Bullock alone has a state history museum named after him. Patrick can only hope for a toilet to be named for him. Bullock ran Texas government when he was Lite Gov. because he knew where the bodies were buried, and he had every (male) legislators balls in his pocket. Had any group of Democratic legislators (Bob was a good Democrat) done to him what these unnamed legislators have done to Dan Patrick, Bullock would have had their balls for Xmas decorations. The Lt. Gov has power only if he knows how to wield it. Dan Patrick doesn't have a clue.
Patrick squawks in public and gets his craziest GOP Senators to go along with him (the Lt. Gov. runs the Senate), but he's never been able to get the GOP House to go along with him. Bullock could, and did. And if GOP state senators (most likely) are turning against Patrick, then surely the Second Coming is at hand! Or at least a revelation.
Beto is running an ad showing an earnest middle aged couple (white, of course; this is Texas) discussing the draconian anti-abortion bill now in effect in Texas: pointing out it criminalizes medical procedure, leaves no exception for rape or incest, and only 11% of Texans support it. They blame Abbott, of course, and push for Beto to correct such horrors.
Methinks somebody is hearing footsteps, and it ain't just the top o' the ticket.
