In My Childhood…

... I could have told you who the news anchor was for CBS without thinking about it: Walter Cronkite. Or the guy after him(Dan Rather). I almost remember the guy after Rather…no, can’t do it.

Today? No clue.

Outside of Washington insiders and wannabe insiders, who reads Politico? It’s about as influential on national politics as CPAC, which was once treated as influential, then as a joke, then as almost-influential. It’s still just a joke. Charlie Pierce used to kick Politico around ruthlessly. Even he realized it was kicking an empty bag.

CNN? Again, who’s watching that except old people and Twitterheads who mine it for videos for fun and profit? I don’t miss paying for it. I still get the (few) interesting bits for free. 

I’m not sure who’s “normalizing” fascism. I’m pretty sure who’s trying to normalize fear. I think that’s working equally well.
