Trump’s tough day on the campaign trail consisted of a few Truth Social posts.

Well, this just happened:

Judge Alvin Hellerstein first holds that federal courts' limited jurisdiction does not allow him to take over a case because of Merchan's alleged bias. 2/

p.s. As far as I know, there is no right to appeal an order denying leave to file a removal notice. But will that stop Trump, especially given that Hellerstein seems to have misconstrued his argument about immunity? Probably not. Stay tuned.

Surprising no one, but those legal motions don't write themselves; and Trump's lawyers had to do it over again this weekend, since they apparently don't know diddly about federal removal practice (this is the second time they've tried; you'd think they'd have the basics down, at least). Here's a bit of what Lisa Rubin pointed out before the judge rejected Trump's request for leave to file a motion:

First, they remind him that Trump's removal efforts don't preclude him from ruling on two pending motions Trump brought before him: one to set aside the verdict and one to postpone his sentencing. 2/

It also comes -- and the DA's team is counting -- "three months after he was found guilty by a jury on thirty-four felony counts; and nearly two months after defendant asked this Court to consider his [ ] motion for a new trial." 4/

Golf is cheaper than campaigning. And lawyers don't pay themselves to file your frivoulous motions that only eat up legal fees and serve no other purpose. Even when you're spending other people's money, that gets expensive. And the legal month has barely started:

Second, both sides submitted their proposals to Judge Tanya Chutkan for what should happen next in the federal election case. She’s got a status conference scheduled for this Thursday, but could she ask for more clarity or details before then? Sure could. 2/
