Gleanings (NOW WITH BROKEN NEWS! AND UPDATED BROKEN NEWS!)

I kinda wanna know what the "Georgia Guidestones" are.

Well, no, I don't; not really.
Eh. Trump would have said he'd solved it, and Adams would have believed him. That's pretty much how it worked for four years. One more reason Trump is not in office; not enough gullible fools. Tip of the spear. If we don't worry about this now, it will be the problem we should have worried about when it's too late! The claim came from Warnock's political opponent. So of course PolitiFact had to check it out. Sure they did.

And breaking news!  The problem with "breaking news":
Which is correct? Best I can tell there's about 5 minutes difference between the Tribune's first report and Abbott's press conference:. And why Abbott is reporting it deepens the mystery. (Oh, wait, it's an election year! For reasons partisan and humane, I hope his information is bad.) And I guess it's a bad time to bring this up: Either way, thoughts and prayers are the only allowed response.  Now why would they anticipate that?

UPDATE:

The Texas Tribune tweet above will take you to this report, now:

At least 14 children and one teacher were killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County on Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbott said.

Abbott said the shooter is also dead and is believed to have been killed by responding officers.

Two hospitals in the area are treating those injured in the shooting. Uvalde Memorial Hospital told The Texas Tribune it had received 13 children and one adult from ambulances and buses. Two patients arrived at the hospital dead. Two children have since been transferred to San Antonio for treatment, while a third is pending transfer.

University Health in San Antonio is providing care for one child and one adult connected to the shooting. The 66-year-old woman is in critical condition; details of the child are not available yet.

Abbott identified the shooter as an 18-year-old Uvalde resident. The man abandoned his vehicle and entered Robb Elementary with a handgun and possibly a firearm, the governor said.

Doing the gruesome math, Uvalde Memorial received 13 children and one adult, or 14 victims.  Two were dead on arrival, two went to San Antonio (nearest big city), a third is about to be transferred.

University health treated one child and one adult.  The two sent to San Antonio?  Probably.  So were there 29 shooting victims, with 15 dead?  Or 14, with 2 dead?  You wouldn't think dead people would be sent to San Antonio.

This is very confused, and it's notable the Tribune is attributing all facts about the shooting now to Abbott, and no information from the Uvalde County Sheriff or the Uvalde Police, which is where the original reports the Tribune reported, came from.

The Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office and a Uvalde Police Department dispatcher said they could not share other details about the nature of the shooting at this time.

I think Abbott big-footed this for political points.  I think it might blow up in his face, unless initial reports were that far off, or a lot of people died at the Uvalde hospital and it doesn't want to report that yet.

Meanwhile, round up the usual suspects: "No way to prevent this," says the only country where this happens.

Confirmed: Abbott wants this one for himself: I'm still a bit confused by the earlier reports from the local hospital. Those two just don't square. And if there are patients in San Antonio, there are more than 15 shooting victims.  Interesting that Abbott doesn't want to mention that, and his silence is becoming the silence (so far) of the media.
I'm guessing he means make them more like armed encampments. Or maybe just fortresses. Makes sense, right?
