And yes, youth is wasted on the young. Both terms, of course, are always relative. Definitions, definitions, it always comes back to definitions.
Given yesterday's SCOTUS decision on adequacy of counsel, it's going to be worse for some people permanently. While Roe makes headlines, it's these below the radar decisions that will be effecting everyone and tilting power away from the weakest and most vulnerable, and toward the wealthy and most powerful. Just in a few days, this holding, the holding on campaign finance, the holding on access to forms of compensation, are rapidly narrowing the rights of the majority of citizens. Adequacy of counsel is something that only applies to the poorest, and this court just stomped on them. Reading the case it's hard to understand why actual innocence shouldn't apply, but the accused will be executed anyway. It's horrific.
