Putting The Hammer Down

It's pretty clear to me now Abbott wanted to big-foot this story so he could focus on the dead, not the larger number of victims:

Two hospitals in the area are treating those injured in the shooting. Uvalde Memorial Hospital told The Texas Tribune it had received 13 children and one adult from ambulances and buses. Two patients arrived at the hospital dead. Two children have since been transferred to San Antonio for treatment, while a third is pending transfer.

University Health in San Antonio is providing care for two patients connected to the shooting. The 66-year-old woman and the 10-year-old girl are in critical condition.

Which allows him to be Mourner-in-Chief while still arguing to the NRA this weekend that "Guns 'r' Good!")  Of course this also means, if the gunman had one handgun, he had a helluva lot of ammunition and kept reloading.

God help us when the arguments start up that armed teachers could have ended this before it started. Armed people are usually the first ones shot.

The next reports will be about the shooter’s “mental illness” and “nobody could have foreseen,” with a vague insinuation that “law enforcement” “dropped the ball.”

The future looks just like the past: inevitable. Says the only country where this ever happens. Because, of course he does. Parents are mourning their children.  Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
