Stop me if you've heard this before.'An absolute disaster': Fox News pundit calls GOP midterm performance a 'searing indictment of the Republican Party' https://t.co/UEjd9Tgk8r

Thiessen argued, “The Republican Party needs to do a really deep introspection, look in the mirror right now, because this is an absolute disaster for the Republican Party, and we need to turn back. We need to look at who won today: Ron DeSantis, (Mike) DeWine. These governors. (Brian) Kemp, Abbott. Look at these governors. This is the path to the future. And electing these radical candidates who ran far behind them has put the Republican Party in a terrible position. And voters have indicted the Republican Party.”
That, needless to say, never happened. Trump happened, and the GOP was convinced angry white voters would be its salvation in perpetuity. Which is why they banked on crime, inflation, and the border to bring home the bacon.
Thiessen argued, “We have the worst inflation in four decades, the worst collapse in real wages in 40 years, the worst crime wave since the 1990s, the worst border crisis in U.S. history. We have Joe Biden, who is the least popular president since Harry Truman — since presidential polling happened — and there wasn’t a red wave. That is a searing indictment of the Republican Party. That is a searing indictment of the message that we have been sending to the voters. They looked at all of that and looked at the Republican alternative and said ‘no thanks.’”
Actually part of the inflation is caused by rising wages due to workers unwilling to do shit work for shit pay after covid. And the rest is gouging by corporations making mad profits after covid. But it's also an international problem, because we a cog in the machinery of an international economy. Deal with it. Still, none of that fear-mongering which was supposed to work because Trump, actually worked. So now is the GOP going to reflect on its sins and change its spots?
Yeah, right.
Whose their savior now, if not Trump? DeSantis? Florida ain't America. It's Florida, man. That's like saying Abbott is primed to be the GOP candidate in 2024 because he just won in a deep red state. Outside of Texas Abbott is as useless as tits on a boar hog. Inside of Texas he's pretty useles, too. But the majority of Texas voters like it that way.Marjorie Taylor Greene blasts 'pathetic' GOP losers: 'They're trying to blame President Trump' https://t.co/i4fya4amFL

I'm gonna leave it to others to "decide" what this all means. Me, I think it means most Americans like Joe Biden's brand of politics, despite the fact he's an old geezer. I know he's old, but I think the discussion of "young blood" are going to be stifled for awhile. Biden's doing something right; and the funny thing is, none of the punditry can figure out why.For how terrible US politics can be I gotta say, the last 3 election cycles have gone pretty well for folks who like progress & tolerance (setting aside the coup attempt thing). There are obviously lots of reactionaries still in office but MAGAs have been retreating for 6 yrs now
