Leave it to the Brits to make Poutine into a health food by comparison. I think it was when Dickens made fun of American food that someone said a Brit doing that was like the blind leading the one-eyed. William Cobbett attributed the appalling British cuisine to the concentration of aristocratic power after the Tudor Reformation and the destruction of the medieval social welfare system, the past isn't even past.
