And the "inciting" is pretty much stuck to Trump like a cockleburr:John Eastman, the law professor who told Trump that the Vice President had the power to block finalization of the election, is cast out of Chapman University. https://t.co/d9uE2VqIZT

Today I joined with more than 30 of my colleagues in requesting an investigation from the Acting House SAA, Acting Senate SAA, and USCP into the suspicious behavior and access given to visitors to the Capitol Complex on Jan. 5, 2021 - the day before the attacks on the Capitol. pic.twitter.com/zpPUSUuSrj

Trump may skate in the Senate, but shit gonna get real in the House. Don't even doubt it:This is unusual for several reasons, including the fact that access to the Capitol Complex has been restricted since public tours ended in March due to the pandemic. We found these tours so concerning that senior staff questioned the SAA on January 5 about what was taking place.

Not that Trump's going to get away with much, even if he "self-pardons" (which I seriously expect the Court to reject; but I'm an optimist and still believe in the rule of law):The Constitution's Speech or Debate Clause privileges members of Congress "from *arrest* during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same."

And the one lecture I remember from my CrimLaw professor is proven true over and over and over again. Himself an experienced criminal attorney, he told us stories about defendants opening their mouths and putting their convictions in them. "They don't catch the smart ones," he advised us.This video suggests his staff fears he’s in jeopardy, and likely fears there will be a massacre in the next week and he will be tagged with it.

You don’t de-radicalize people in five minutes if you’ve spent five years radicalizing them.

I don't think I ever appreciated how all encompassing a sense of white privilege is for these people. I wonder if my Irish Catholic guilt protected me from it because I always figure that I'll never get away with anything. Being sure I'll get pinched for doing anything has always been there. Though I'm sure there are other aspects of it I'm not aware of.
