"Better'n Socialism!"

I haven't read it yet, but my explanation for all this is:

1) Legislators don't give a shit.

2) We the people shrug and say "Well, better'n socialism!"  Which is what we seem to think all government action is, unless its encouraging business to do business here.

3) No, I don't know how long this lasts before businesses and employees moving here decide it's not such a paradise after all.  I'm always amazed at the shit people will put up with.

  1. If there's one thing a modern state can't do without, it's an efficient electrical grid. Fast internet, too, a related issue. If that fact disciplines the state government is something I'll be interested in seeing, though I'd never underestimate the stupidity of state legislatures, especially those controlled by Republican-fascists.
My brother told me that China, in one month, installs more recharging stations for electric vehicles than the United States has in our entire history. I'd never underestimate the weakness that turning over control of government to business interests, as ours was from the beginning, results in. It makes me curious to learn more about the struggle over a national bank in the 19th century, unfortunately I don't have time to do the reading during the growing season. Especially this year when I'm more dependent on my garden than ever.

State legislatures might be the stupidest level of government, though with the Republicans in Congress acting like one of the worst of those, that might be an outdated suspicion. With the help of two alleged Democrats, one of whom has been the darling of organized atheism, I decided to always point out.
