Maybe addressing them directly would be a more useful effort.  Why he feels compelled to address generic "Democrats" is a mystery to me.

Perhaps it's just a reflex from his days working for Cheney, et al. (Dick, not Liz)  It's about as helpful as pissing in a hurricane, but I guess it makes him feel better.
