They are the most persecuted people in the country now. (No, seriously; the biggest fear among some is the the people we have oppressed for so many centuries will finally get back some of their own. Such people literally can't imagine any other outcome, which is why they are so glad Dr. King had a dream, and not a purpose. He did, of course, but they erase that in favor something far more nebulous and unthreatening, which is largely when non-white Americans recognize their place. Which is to be alongside white Americans, but still one step back and to the side, if you know what I mean.)
