ReplyDeleteThat sent a chill up my back, remembering that Lincoln came to speculate that the bloodshed of the Civil War was the price America had to pay for the institution of slavery, Exodus expresses the same idea in Pharaoh and his army drowning in the Red Sea and the tribute paid by the Egyptians to their slaves as they left - apparently Egyptians were more reasonable about restitution than Americans are.
My closest cousins and their families all live in Southern states with Republican governors, I worry for them even more than I worry for us up here in New England. One of my cousin's daughters just started radiation treatment and so has to go in and out of hospitals, I expect she might be on drugs that will make her susceptible to Covid-19 or the Covid-20 that they're talking about having mutated from it. Not to mention all of them are in their 70s or later middle age, now. I'm wondering how many families will escape a death in this criminal stupidity and irresponsibility.
I think the price we are paying is the price of allowing the mass media to lie with impunity.
