Never Mention the Competition

The grift, in other words, goes on.

One problem:  if the Senate decides Trump shouldn't hold federal office again, what does he do for an encore?  Two:  while his supporters will believe every legal case, criminal or civil, against him is part of a "witch hunt," Trump is going to be spending a lot of time raising money to pay for lawyers.  He may even face challenges over trying to live at Mar-A-Lago.  I understand one reason he didn't want it to be a "residence" was so he wouldn't pay property taxes on it as such, because he coulnd't afford to.  So if he wins the challenges, does he lose the tax protection? (and no, I have no idea if Florida tax law works that way)  Seems to me like Trump loses either way on that fight.

Anyway, the real problem is Trump had attention and support so long as he was running for office or in office.  As of noon tomorrow he'll be neither, and his ability to run for office (would he accept less than the Presidency?) may be negated, leaving him with no political future.  He's not as rich as the Chinese tycoon from whose yacht Bannon was plucked to go to jail, nor as the late Sheldon Adelson, so it's not like he's gonna be a sugar daddy to the cause.  He won't be able to command rallies without first paying for them, and his ability to shakedown the shills will diminish over time.  He's not even likely to pardon anyone involved in the Jan. 6 riot:
Which won't win him any more love from his supporters, many of which will be in jail soon (seriously). Trump is taking care of Trump on the way out the door, and that behavior is not exactly calculated to win friends and influence people; at least not in Trump's favor.

This is what people are going to remember about Trump:
And it would be fitting if this was the last thing he saw before leaving for Florida:

  1. I'm sure he was looking forward to doing that stupid Apprentice show again. I would guess that he's already been told that the insurrection will, sort of, put a damper on sponsors so, no show.
When Milton Berle's act got too old for him to sustain his previous career he did a bowling show. I've seen one of them on YouTube. If it had been someone who was funny it would have been sad, instead it was just Uncle Milty. I don't suppose Trump's style would be suitable for golf commentary. I've only been subjected to TV golf coverage once, my great uncle Al watched it. I went out to watch the grass grow.

    1. Trump cheats sat golf. This is well known. That makes him as popular with golfers as a drunk among Southern Baptists. Besides, his commentary would be all about how he did that better on his course, which is better, too.
