It was a “safe space” because turning it back to the states meant theThe attempt to monkey-wrench the Electoral College was the safe space where “respectable” Republicans could plan to overturn the clear result of the 2020 presidential election, which they needed because, hey, not everybody looks good in camo. https://t.co/gHCj4ycXWd

Not that the majority of Americans give a shit about the healthcare of children; hell, they don't even care about their safety from gun violence in schools. Mostly they care about who's shooting back, if anything.Access to high-quality, affordable child care in the state of Texas is becoming scarcer, creating child care deserts across the state. These deserts are hitting low-income families and families with working parents the hardest. https://t.co/B5hc4qrKk0 @keranews

Never forget a lot of people voted for Trump, and those votes do count for victories in races below the level of POTUS. Speaking of which:If so many of my fellow citizens can be talked out of taking a life-saving vaccine, good luck selling them on Medicare For All while their favorite radio and TV stars are yelling at them about socialized medicine. https://t.co/PxVDSr4COH

1/ When the gentry Republicans (Mitch, Kevin, Elise, NRO, et al) tell you the party is past Trump and that the glittering future of the GOP is Youngkin or DeSantis or McCormick (ha!), they're either lying to themselves or lying to you. https://t.co/hQwog90uhY

3/ ...to overturn 2020 (even now) and to restrict voting rights across the board (but mostly for Those People) will fundamentally reshape the country.

Parties lead, mobs demand.
The 1/6 mob *is* the GOP, it's just not evenly distributed yet. They demand adherence to the lie.
5/ When I first wrote about how Proper Washington was trying to shape and twist itself to the grotesqueries of the less savory parts of MAGA world, it was very common for GOP types to call and whisper, "God, I hate them. They're so fucking awful. I can't wait until he's gone."

I do have to point out that the current iteration of the GOP goes back to at least Nixon, and Wilson played a role in the political successes of that party. So, be careful what you ask for.... (Wilson's analysis isn't wrong, but this is the party he helped create). Still, he’s not wrong: this GOP was decades in the making. It won’t go away soon.7/ The future isn't some affable Younkinesque technocrat in a fleece vest.

It's a pissed off bro in his truck with a Punisher sticker, a No Ragrets tattoo, and gas-station Costa knockoff sunglasses glaring into the camera for his profile pic.
End.

ReplyDeleteLast time I checked Elise was spouting a steady stream of hardcore MAGA content. DeSantis is an authoritarian thug willing to use the power of the state to crush anyone who disagrees with him. He has gone after universities, schools, public health departments and companies. He pushed for the "Don't Say Gay" legislation and far worse. To harken back to my middle school years of playing Dungeons and Dragons (yes, I was serious geek), Donald Trump is chaotic evil. His self-centeredness, greed, laziness and lack of focus kept him from doing much worse. DeSantis and Elise are lawful evil, more focused and goal oriented. Put them in charge and the entire power of the state like the IRS, police agencies and such will be turned against their perceived enemies. Agencies like the EPA, OSHA and the Department of Education will be rendered ineffective for a generation. Further, why anyone thinks McConnel is gentry is beyond me. He ruthlessly used all the power available to him to pack the court system with judges that will render holdings that will be more powerful than any legislation he could have passed. Everything that this reactionary supreme court renders is a direct result of McConnel and what he wanted. There isn't a dimes width of difference between this supposed gentry and the MAGA faithful. The are all true believers.
