“Did I Just Blow Your Mind?”

"Hard to resolve"? Light up another one and I’m sure you’ll think you’ve found the answer. "Wow, man, that’s so heavy!” (Question from the back: humankind’s “power” (on your scale) comes from an opposable thumb and the ability to use it to engineer. What instrumentalities, precisely, does AI wield?

Avoiding science fiction answers involving robots that don’t exist yet, and other such malarkey which make bad science fiction possible.

Really wasn’t thinking about AI when I started the morning skirting Cartesian dualism (which I do no support). Then again, the leap from ChatGPT to the end of humanity at the hands (?) of our creation is one even bad sci-fi wouldn’t make. I mean, I suppose AI could try to take over the world if we told it not to (yes, I watched “I, Robot” last night. No, we’re nowhere near that dystopian future. We don’t even have self-driving cars, do we, Elmo? Oh, wait, Mercedes-Benz does, don’t they?). But then we’d have to get philosophical; and Elmo clearly isn’t equipped for that.

  1. Instrumentalities? Let's ask the Krell about that...
