We can’t? We can’t ignore the President’s desires? The President of Russia? Or the President of the United States of America?

I’m pretty sure Congress can very much ignore the President’s desires. Since any forced annexation of Greenland would require Congressional authorization. Any joining of Greenland, any making Greenland a protectorate of the United States, would require the approval of Congress.

Not to mention the agreement of Denmark, and of NATO. Which is why Putin agrees with Vance:

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday warned that President Trump’s frequent rhetoric promoting a U.S. takeover of Greenland is not “just some eccentric talk of the new American administration.”

The comparison to Putin is especially damning. Accurate; and therefor damning.
