If Huffines is the GOP candidate, Beto stands a better chance. I think Huffines would bring out the anti-Trump vote even more strongly. He’s certainly likely to scare urban voters who don’t bother to vote. In the meantime, it’s just making our politics worse:This @DonHuffines guy is really starting to pick up steam in the Republican primary vs @GovAbbott. https://t.co/r6VfeOfvsM

Dan Patrick tried once before to increase penalties. The House decreased them, and that’s what got into law. Patrick wants to try again, but there’s no evidence the House will go along. Abbott is just posturing; again.Greg Abbott is calling for Texas lawmakers to increase the penalty for illegal voting — weeks after he signed a bill lowering it.

This comes after an audit of the 2020 election in four counties was announced, despite no evidence of widespread fraud. https://t.co/Mgf105dI6B
As for Abbott’s shenanigans on the border, he’s doing absolutely nothing. The immigrants he captures are released two weeks later, at which time the Feds release them into the country.
It’s only a matter of time ‘til Huffines calls Abbott’s policy “catch and release.”
I’m going to enjoy this far more than I should.
