Texas has a surplus of $30 billion. $10 billion of that comes from local school taxes. Because of this surplus the Comptroller of Public Accounts recommended schools receive an additional $900 per student. There are 116,000 schools in the U.S. Most have sprawling campuses with multiple buildings and entrances. Just two would be 232,000 guards. Pay them $40K a year and that’s $9.2B. Then 2 weapons a piece for $116M. On and on. Still won’t stop the slaughter. Idiot ideas. https://t.co/bPI60hmqUW

The Lege is considering vouchers of $8000 per student for students in private schools. Public schools currently get $6000 per student. The Lege offered to split the difference with the Comptroller’s suggestion, and offer public schools an additional $50 per student per year. They felt more generous later, and raised that to $90.
Local school district has announced it needs $1000 per student, or next school year (August, IOW) faculty and staff, including school district police officers, get cut in half. The response from the local state Senators is that the district can’t manage its money and gets federal grants, anyway, so…
You can’t make this stuff up.
All to ask Mike Pence: who’s paying for all those armed guards? And when do we just turn our schools into prisons, you waste of space?
