Gonna Have to Ditch a Lot of People

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Johnson (R-WI), who oversee the Senate Finance Committee and Homeland Security Committee respectively, sent Attorney General Bill Barr a letter on Monday asking whether the department is investigating the right wing conspiracy theory that Ukraine and the Hillary Clinton campaign colluded to undermine then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign in the 2016 elections.

I don't think there's any recovery without a purge.  And then who's left in the GOP?

  1. This is one of the reasons I've been entirely skeptical of the "never Trump" people. What is there about Trump that wasn't already objectionable in Cheney-Bush II or Bush I or, in many ways, Reagan? Bill Barr was doing in a more modest form for the Bush crime family what he is doing for Trump, the same legal theories of a fascist strong-man presidency was adopted by Republicans for those times when the President was a Republican. "Unitary Executive" is the mainstream legal theory of Republicans since Reagan more modestly assumed powers that Nixon implied in his infamous declaration of Presidential rule by fiat made to David Frost.

No, Republican-fascism IS the problem as can be seen in all of those "never Trumpers" like Lindsay Graham and, as you point out, every other Republican Senator and House member, and until very recently, every Republican governor I knew of. The problem is the form of Conservatism that is ubiquitous in the English Speaking Peoples is the fascist form of gangsterism, only the degree of depravity is different, not the essential orientation.
