There is also precedent for post-term impeachment, to bar Trump from ever holding the office of President again. I think that would unite more of the country than it would divide, although Trump's political fortunes now are no better than Ford's were after he pardoned Nixon.Some people ask: Why would you impeach and convict a president who has only a few days left in office? The answer: Precedent. It must be made clear that no president, now or in the future, can lead an insurrection against the U.S. government.
