Granted, that wasn't the same request as directed to Espey (and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley), but it wasn't like this was new information about an otherwise publicly placid and calm POTUS named Trump.
Yeah, it would have been nice if people had been setting their hair on fire. It just wouldn't have made a difference. The "Entertainment Tonight" tapes didn't.
