"The central doctrine of Christianity, then, is not that God is a bastard. It is, in the words of the late Dominican theologian Herbert McCabe, that if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you."--Terry Eagleton

"It is impossible for me to say in my book one word about all that music has meant in my life. How then can I hope to be understood?--Ludwig Wittgenstein

What the Fuck Ever

Again, behind a paywall, but I'm sure Beto's comment after the El Paso shooting plays a prominent role in the analysis.

Get the fuck over it.

This issue if language is what we used to call a "generation gap" issue, except now the Boomers are tut-tutting the Millenials and X'ers and anyone else their junior.

Grow up, Grandpa. "Swearing" (which I still associate with the 19th century. It's cussing, alright?) is not the end of civilization as we know it. Civility is less in our language than in our attitudes. Donald Trump doesn't curse in public, but his nearly every utterance is offensive and unfit for civil people.

Watch the doughnut, not the hole.
