Waiting For The Big One

During their search of the Donald Trump's Palm Beach resort this week, FBI agents recovered 11 sets of classified documents, including some marked as top secret and meant to "be only available in special government facilities," the Wall Street Journal reports.

Around 20 boxes of items, binders of photos, a handwritten note and the executive grant of clemency for Mr. Trump’s ally Roger Stone, were on a list of confiscated items that was reviewed by the newspaper. Also on the three-page list was information about the “President of France."

One set of documents recovered was marked, “Various classified/TS/SCI documents,” which, as the Wall Street Journal points out, is an abbreviation that refers to "top-secret/sensitive compartmented information."

The search warrant states that that FBI agents wanted to search “the 45 Office,” as well as “all storage rooms and all other rooms or areas within the premises used or available to be used by [the former president] and his staff and in which boxes or documents could be stored, including all structures or buildings on the estate.”

Let us pause in our journey to consider that this means.  WSJ is citing a document, which sounds like the inventory the FBI would have delivered to Trump after the search was finished.  We have learned that DOJ was negotiating with Trump for months, and even served subpoenas to recover documents.  We didn't know that before. The DOJ is being praised for not leaking about this matter.

So where'd the document come from?  The one the DOJ is waiting for the judge to release at 3 this afternoon?  (Let us all remember Trump's posts on "Truth Social" do not constitute filings in court, so unless his lawyers file an objection by 3, the judge will comply with the DOJ release request.  But not before then.)  Not likely.

There are moles in Trump's cadre.  I mean, is it a coincidence it went to Breitbart and WSJ and not, say, to CNN or the NYT?

And while we wait for 3:00 EDT to roll around, let's hear from the National Archives:
And I just have to do this while we twiddle our metaphorical thumbs: Yes, it is built on fear. But who's afraid, exactly? If that's your best shot, you're afraid of something you can't fight. Case in point.

ADDING: Now we know (potentially; I’ll wait for the official release to be sure) why the search warrant was authorized. And Trump is probably in more trouble than anybody imagined.
