I honestly don't think the Lege is going to be moved by blaming AOC and a non-existent law for our troubles.  They won’t take credit for screwing this system into the ground, but they will probably fix it nonetheless, despite Abbott.  The bright spot? Patrick’s “Star-Spangled Banner” crusade is dead as Mrs. O’Leary’s cow.  Nobody in Texas gives a shit about culture war issues, with only 5 months left in the session and a state budget to pass.

They are also pissed about being cold.  Either Perry doesn’t live here anymore, or he’s rich enough to afford his own generator.  He’d likely get punched on the street right now; good thing too many of them are too icy for people to be on.

And yes, power has returned to Chez Adventus.  No water, because everybody in the city ran their taps 24/7 to prevent freezing, despite the City telling them not to do that.  Now we have broken pipes (not here, apparently) but no water pressure.  This, we are told, will improve.  Still more than a million around without power; pray for them, and for the nincompoops in charge of Texas electricity. And especially for the people still suffering their stupidity.

Last night, after we’d lost power & my pipes burst, my toddler choked on a peanut in our dark house. We rushed him across town on icy roads for emergency surgery at a hospital that does not have enough water pressure to flush toilets.
