Without being a lesson on ConLaw, this is a nice example of the element of “important governmental objective.” That’s not a rigidly defined term, but it is part of a test for whether a statute or policy can stand up to scrutiny. We do rather prize our liberty, and government faces barriers to treading on those.It's not like the had much choice after the director's comments, but I think it was quite a choice to lean in to the "girls are fragile vessels" explanation of gender-based discrimination.
