The most bipartisan impeachment vote in history. And as close to a mandate for a prosecutor as any former POTUS has ever faced. And, for lagniappe, you have McConnell’s closing speech.House managers utterly vindicated. They got every vote possible.

All that said:The 57 guilty votes represent over 2/3 of the American people.

Yup. The only vindication of it will be prosecution for the crimes that led to the insurrection, and the crimes committed that day.Important point: This was actually the *most bipartisan* Senate impeachment in history.... which is to say that impeachment is not a viable tool for holding presidents about accountable.

Of the three previous presidential impeachments, the highest number of senators voting to convict a president of their own party was 1.

Trump wasn't convicted, but 7 Republicans voting to convict him matters - for his legacy and for history.
The good news. In all of American history pre-Trump there has only been 12 members of congress to vote to impeach or convict a president of their own party. 17 Republicans did that this year.

Trump has more guilty votes than every other president combined
This is the most bipartisan impeachment in U.S. history. But what does that really mean?
— Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) February 13, 2021
It means after a mob of Trump supporters attacked the US Capitol and literally killed people, seven Republicans voted to convict former President Trump along with every Democratic senator.
