Fear Is The Little Death 💀

Tucker Carlson has an average viewership of 3 million; in a country of 335 million.

Walter Cronkite, the most popular anchor in American TV news, averaged 27 to 29 million viewers a night, in a country of 200 million.  That’s why some still think that support for the Vietnam War dropped sharply, and kept declining, when Cronkite suggested the war no longer made sense. When has Carlson ever swayed the entire country that way?

As Ben Sasse points out, the average viewer age for MSNBC is 68. The numbers are similar for CNN, and the average age for FoxNews is slightly higher.

I still think the biggest impact FoxNews has is on Twitter.

Angry old people are like Norwegian bachelor farmers: they don’t reproduce, but there are always some around. Sen. Sasse is right: the GOP can’t be their party alone. The demographics are simply against them.

But Twitter loves to fear the future, so the narrative isn’t likely to change.
