Was this before, or after…A deeply unsettling point from @RachelKleinfeld, who studies countries that descend into political violence.

Rises in political violence tends to be "preceded by a dehumanization phase."
The bad news: We are "well along in that phase."https://t.co/nkFilmeHNY
We ended slavery?
We finished virtually exterminating the native population?
We finally passed the Civil Rights Act, 100 years after ending slavery? Or finally implemented the 15th Amendment, with the Voting Rights Act?
Our Supreme Court declared “separate but equal” perfectly fine?
Our Supreme Court decided “three generations of imbeciles is enough!”?
The Tulsa Massacre?
The popularity of lynching in the early 20th century?
Anti-war protestors were “hippies” and “draft-dodgers” and “unAmerican”? (I don’t remember one President denouncing that language.)
The innocent students killed at Kent State were blamed for their own deaths and the National Guard soldiers exonerated in the court of public opinion?
Geez, read a history book, wouldja?
