Arguing With Fools

In the Legislative session now gone, there was a flurry of anxiety among local lawmakers about school finance. The State Senator for the area told Board Members and administrators that their district had plenty of federal money (aside from state money), and if they couldn’t get by on that “extra,” they were obviously profligate.

He went on to put it in an open letter to his constituents. He was kinda proud of it. By the way, the regular session ended with no increase in school funding at all. School districts are already planning layoffs and larger classes (because fewer teachers). The number of voters who will blame legislators is not expected to grow.  They have their reality; I have mine. I’ve never figured out how to get a majority of them to see things my way.

So Gavin Newsom:
As much as I agree with him, he’s not bringing the fire from heaven to red states. They already think blue states are suckers. If the red states are getting money from them, that’s gravy. And if that money is so important, but still insufficient, you must not be living within your means. Like all decent, God-fearing, red state Republicans do.

I know you want everyone to see it just one way. But they never do. Newsom is not a prophet of God. Newsom is another reason they are right.

I keep telling you: you can’t fix stupid.
This is a fine example. The applicable adage is: “Never argue with a fool. People won’t be able to tell the difference.” The replies to Rogan are fine examples. Most of them are from fools who think Hotez is not an expert, but a fool. Takes one to know one, I guess. They would be the audience for this “debate.” What would be the point of that?

The other adage here? “Never wrestle with a pig. You just get dirty, and the pig likes it.”

That’s what Rogan’s audience is counting on. Dr. Hotez is not such a fool.

Besides, as the Golden Child says; who listens to Rogan except unemployed people?
