NYT poll: Biden leading in NH (+3), NV (+4), WI (+5) and MN (+9)— Alex Burns (@alexburnsNYT) September 12, 2020
Trump stuck in low 40s everywhere – never even hits 45 pct
There's a theoretical path for him but law-and-order message has not yielded a major breakthrough@jmartNYT @ByMattStevens & me https://t.co/x9L3IadNSJ

Many voters are deeply unsettled with the rioting, clearly want Biden to do more to denounce it. But many of these same voters have no faith in Trump on this or other issues

There are, though, limits on Trump's ability to shift the focus from the virus to the riots: perhaps the most crucial voters, those who backed 3d party or didn't vote in '16, say the virus is more important the violence— Jonathan Martin (@jmartNYT) September 12, 2020
I think that last one is crucial. What's on people's minds is the economy, but they know the economy's in the crapper because of the virus. People are staying home because of the virus, not just because they have no work. Biden's ads have focused on the virus (that I've seen) and the economy. I watched Bernie on an interview ("Firing Line") on PBS. When he's not ranting and raving to a crowd of supporters, he actually quite sensible (though he did say he hoped Biden would be the most progressive President since FDR, skipping entirely over LBJ. I almost can't forgive him for that error.). But I don't remember him mentioning the virus at all. It was standard Bernie that he's been saying for 50 years now. I mention that because this is the reason for this post:
NEW: Sen. Bernie Sanders is privately expressing concerns about Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, according to 3 people with knowledge of the conversations, urging Biden’s team to intensify its focus on pocketbook issues and appeals to liberal voters.https://t.co/8mKJiVjqMb— Sean Sullivan (@WaPoSean) September 12, 2020
Remind me that last time Bernie won a national campaign? Or even won a national party nomination on these issues?
Everybody wants to drive from the backseat.
In our Nevada polling, voters said by a 9-point margin that the government's priority should be to limit covid spread over reopening the economy, and only 36& of NV voters said the state was reopening too slowlyhttps://t.co/gYKlgYNuqt— Alex Burns (@alexburnsNYT) September 12, 2020
