I’m Old Enough To Remember…

When the internet was supposed to self-correct with so much information available to it.

On the subject of the thread: "Huh?", you ask. I did, anyway. The roots of this nonsense are in this: The stupidity is not in the ignorant analysis of the effects of qualified immunity (which everybody has heard of but no one understands), but in the complete ignorance of everyone on that thread (as of my reading, anyway). You see, this theory is based on a debunked story about a policeman who had the shooter in his sights as the latter entered the campus and the school building.  But obviously he didn’t take the shot.

It’s a good thing he didn’t shoot because it has been established that the person seen was a school coach. Which may well be the reason he didn’t take the shot. There are still lies and half-truths being told about the Uvalde shooting. They’ll be circulating for a long time.

A lie is half-way ‘round the world while truth is still getting its boots on. The internet hasn’t changed that.

So I suppose there’s some moral high ground for somebody here, but: change the facts, change the outcome. And the fact is: nobody on that thread has a clue. The moral debasement is there: that the truth is so lost no one in that discussion realizes it’s missing.

  1. And here I thought there were problems when I first started reading the blogs. I knew Twitter would only make things stupider.
