Yeah, it's a gimmick. But I have a 3-D chess set, a Staunton set I've had since pre-teenagehood, a set made out of nuts and bolts glued together according to directions I got (IIRC) from "Boy's Life" (and if you even remember that publication, you are old!), as well as some figurative sets from Europe and China.
So I think I need this, Besides, I gotta know how the pieces move when they get to that circular center.....
