Pretty Much The Republican Party Brand Since...

...mmmm, Goldwater? Yeah, I’d say at least that long. Nixon had his Southern strategy. Reagan had “welfare queens,” caused by Democrats. Gingrich blamed everything on Democrats. Trump added the “Deep State” to that.

It’s been pretty consistently the GOP party line for almost 60 years. It’s unfortunate the GOP ever found this appealing. But Trump is not nearly enough of a politician to have invented this himself.
